It has been a growing concern for our company that for well over 4 years, more and more so called timeshare resale companies are appearing often cold calling customers out of the blue or making offers to timeshare owners that are unrealistic and quite frankly made up stories with ridiculous valuations and stories that they have a buyer waiting for their specific ownership.

In some of the cases reported to our company we have been told that timeshare owners have been told if they attend a meeting they can be given full details of a timeshare valuation.

A resale transaction can be carried out through email, letter and phone communication. In no cases would you need to visit a timeshare resale companies offices to gain a valuation. Furthermore you should never have to pay so called legal fees to sell your timeshare.

If a company tells you they have a specific buyer waiting please move forward with absolute caution. Let the company put the offer in writing to you setting out how the purchase and sale will be conducted. Do not part with your legal ownership documentation until you are 100% happy with the process that will take place and fully aware of the transfer of ownership process.

Another similar scam that is occurring are companies who claim they can get you back the money you paid to purchase your timeshare ownership through a court case. Once again it is highly unlikely that this will happen but our first piece of advice would be to ask them to put this information in a detailed letter so you may have a Solicitor review if for you.
